This paper discusses the results of studies focused on wear resistance, patterns and plastic properties Cr,Mo-(Cr,Mo,)N-(Cr,Mo,Al)N coating, containing 20 at.% Mo. The coating had a nanolayer structure with modulation period ? = 50 nm. revealed hardness, fracture resistance in scratch testing, as well elemental phase composition coating. tool life carbide cutting tools proved their longer compared to that uncoated reference Cr-(Cr,Al)N equal thickness content aluminum (Al). included comparison coated Cr-(Cr,Al)N. experiments specific features nanostructure were conducted using transmission electron microscope (TEM), revealing different mechanisms fracture. penetration particles material being machined between nanolayers interlayer delamination. When exposed moving flow machined, deformation (bending) occurs. diffusion iron into (up 200 nm) Cr Mo cut depth up 250 nm are observed. presented information can help design metal choice coatings for them.
